As an introduction to the Art Rage programme the teacher used a piece of Art work by Wassily Kandinsky http://www.globalgallery.com/enlarge/41343/ as a source of motivation. The children needed to learn to use the paint palettes and brushes to create a colour blended piece of art work.
The skills they gained from this introduction to ArtRage have enabled them to create birds (inspired by The Nickle Nackle Tree). These birds are going to be used as part of the class display of writing goals (learning intentions) giving the children a purpose for their artwork.
